.Map and all backups wiped?

(OOC: Sorry for posting a new topic, I wasn't sure if I would be able to find this problem easily on the forum or not.)

Well, I'm mapping again :)
Happy to see the site is still up (although Nemesis Tuts has disappeared off the interwebz and I am sad to see it go.)

I have a strange situation.

I opened my map today to work on it. I made some changes I should have, and instead of closing and restarting mohradiant to open the new map, I simply opened the old version of the map while I was still editing the new one. Once it was done loading, nothing was on the Mohradiant interface, no entities, no brushes, squat.

I shrugged and loaded the .bak file....also nothing.
Now I started to get worried. I loaded the other .bak files from the screenshots folder...all 0kb

Now I'm sitting here wondering what kind of sick joke this is.

I'm well versed in Mohraidant's quirks, but when one of them results in the loss of my entire project, I leave myself wondering what can be done.

I would simply like to know why this happens and how i can avoid it in the future, thanks. :)

Truth is, no one knows. All versions of Radiant (well, maybe apart from GtkRadiant because it's getting a lot of developer attention, but it doesn't support MoHAA anyway) are bugs galore and you must've triggered one of them somehow. Sorry, nothing we can do to help you.

As a rule of thumb - make regular backups of your map.

Yep, I can confirm the same thing happened to me any times mapping for CoD/CoD2/CoD4. Bad luck that is.

using a source control seems to be the solution

Well, i have a quite similar problem...
I've done a .map, builded it into .bsp and played it well... Made some changes onte the .map and everthing workout right... then i decided to donwload some .maps form the web to get some ideas and mohradiant doesn't open it..
It's just void and some brushes disconnected lost on it...

any ideas?

Does this GtkRadiant works for mohaa? Is it the same interface and tools as MOHRadiant?

tks a bunch

It might not be compatible with radiant. It may have been a decompiled/recompiled bsp which isn't going to work or you might have your filters set.....view/filter/all

As I said, GtkRadiant does not support MoHAA.

Hi... Ok my question about GTKRadiant was a little bit stupid, sorry
I've already read about it...

About the downloaded maps, it's a real mistery because i've tried to convert the BSP to MAP the default maps, and it's the same thing... a bunch of disconnected brushes...
I've downloaded the default pack maps, at filefront, and it's the same thing... bunch of disconnected brushes...

I'ts really annoying because i would like some default maps, V2, for comparison...
Anyone can upload tyhe V2.map (that works on MohRadiant) somewhere so I can download it?

Sounds like you're using the BSP tool and NOT MOHAA Tools or the SH SDK. Try using radiant.
