Make sure your shader is correct. If you get a blank grey image it means that it can't find the shader. The following is mine for the snow tutorial.

Code: Select all

snow <<=======
{
   nomipmaps
   nopicmip
   cull none
   force32bit
   surfaceparm nolightmap
   {
      clampMap textures/mohmenu/dmloading/snow.jpg <<========
   }
}
Just make sure that what the arrows point to are correct.

Make your your picture look right at 640x480 then resize it to 512x512. It will looked squished until it is displayed in the loading screen.

BTW here is the loading screen image for the Snow tutorial @ 512x512

Image

More BTW, if all else fails you can use the path to the .jpg without the extention such as:

Code: Select all

shader "textures/mohmenu/dmloading/snow"
in your urc file.

Innkeeper: is that snow tutorial also gonna be about loadingscreens? Or...?

(I'm asking because at the moment I'm about to wrap up a rather extensive tutorial on loadingscreens and Alpha channels).

It just happens to have a loading screen. Just the picture above filling the whole screen.

I'm planning on making a tutorial... It's not that hard to do, even with a .TGA file.

that's right, but sometimes it can be harder to explain stuff to others than to do it :wink:.
