Arches

Post by Sgt.Stafford »

Just wondering if anyone else has a problem making arches. Whenever I try to create an arch ( Curve/Primitives/End cap ) Moh radient crashes. Can somebody help with this matter? Perhaps a different method for making arches exists? I thought I had managed to work round the problem by creating the arch before rotating it to fit but I then get problems displaying the arch correctly-the end caps are not in the right place when I compile and run.

May be you have LOD terrain? Try making it in another map and save it as a prefab(file-->save to prefab).
Live to map, not map to live.

Hmm I get this - I have to shape my arch and cap it before I rotate it or MoH Rad crashes....When you cap (I believe you have to select inverted end cap ) an arch it creates 2 patch meshes, which you have to make sure are selected along with the main arch when you rotate it...

I havnt used LOD terrain so it's not that. I can make the arch as long as i don't rotate it first but then when I make it and move it into place/compile...it doesnt display it properly. The endcaps appear slightly away from the arch. What method do you use to make arches?

Guys:

I struggled with this for months. But I now know what causes the problem: If you create your endcap and then use Free Rotate to rotate your endcap into the right position before you create the inverted endcap for the arch, MoHRadiant will crash--every time.

To create your arch using the endcap/inverted endcap method, rotate your initial endcap using the Selection > Rotate > Rotate X (or Rotate Y or Rotate Z, depending on what you are doing) and THEN create your inverted endcap and MoHRadiant has no problems at all.

Hope this helps. Happy arch making!
