I know many mappers do not use CSG Subtract for various reasons. I have been playing around with and found if used properply it can be a very useful tool.

Yes it can created some unwanted brushes if you are not careful.

I also ran some pc test while using it. CSG Subtract wants all the cpu and memory it can get.

Some facts that I have found, that may be helpful. (at least for me it was)

1. It will crash mohradiant on lower end pcs( I ran it on a lower end pc and it crashed everytime), due to cpu or memoray usage.

2. Setting the grid lower seems to help. I am not sure but I think CSG Subtract likes to get to the closest grid point possible.

3. Most unwanted brushes (like having 2 were one could be used) can be removed and one brush created for the two or more.

It worked well for me, for cutting a large complex ship hull into my water texture.

It's useful 'cause it saves time. But it may crash.

I think the "clipping" tool is much safer to use!
