I wish to post some pics of my maps here. How do i do this? Do i need a web page with a pic? How does this work?

Yes you need your own webpage, try htttp://www.netfirms.com, you can get free hosting..Then upload (using ftp) your pics to your site and you can then link to them

If you are just interested in hosting images, I recommend a image hosting server. A free one I know of is www.imagemagician.com ... You can get a free account there, with limited space of course.
