Caulk & Hollow?

Ok ... I have read in multiple places that its better to construct your rooms manually, instead of hollowing out a block due to extra textured faces etc.
Why can't you just creat a block out of caulk, hollow it while its still caulked, and then "face texture" the inside?

I don't see why you can't do that. Maybe much easier.

Yeah, I only aske because I was making a room that wasnt just square but had chopped corners etc. Making this from scratch would be pretty tough.
After hollowing it, I did still have to adjust some stuff but definetely a time saver.

you can do that, just the only problem with hollow is all 6 brushes overlap each other at the sides so you need to adjust that.

Yeah ... I found that out. I went through and did the corner combine thing, by pressing 'E' and making them fit together. Just a little adjusting, but a big time saver when making oddshaped rooms.

Whenever I make a room with bizarre shape i make a square brush (none hollow), then use the clipper tool to form my room (no concave shapes). Then i use this "template" and add small brushes all around it, again using the Clipper (seems safer than vertex manipulation). When that is finished i make a copy of the template to use as a the roof/ceiling, raise the walls to an appropriate hight and presto an oddly shaped room. As easy as cake, It's a piece of pie.
