I went through the tutorial for LOD terrain and such. I then searched through the forums for a bit.

Does a lot of LOD terrain cuase your map to run slower? Is there any negative effects of having too much?

And is it ok to overlap it with stuff such as brushes or other LOD terrain?

Yes a lot of terrain does have a bad impact on performance. However, if you need large amounts of terrain, LOD is by far best to use. Patch or brush terrain causes a much worse loss of fps.

You can overlap LOD terrain, as it's not structural. However, try to prevent it if possible.

There's a max number of LOD facets you can have as described in the terrain editing doc file in the radiant /docs folder.
