My grandfather was the comanding officer of a POW camp in Italy in 1943 and I have quite a few copies of letters from the prisoners writing home. Here are a few of the names:

Hey, Lt. Barnes, I wrote jv_map once on the list
And there's not only mohaa_rox, there are Surgeon, small_sumo, Innkeeper, me...
Actually, when you look at HL bots' names and their creators, you can see that they always put their name on the list
I suppose that when they test them, they often kill themselves
