Can I optimize my round thingies?

Ello ello!

I have a big hall with a large number of distillers.
The FPS is very low ( around 20-25 ), and I'm trying everything to increase it. The distillers contains a lot of cylinders and cones, thus the question:
What is easier for MOHAA to draw? A 16-sided brush ( 64 triangles ) OR a Cylinder primitive ( looks like it has 16 sides in Radiant ) ?

Is there a difference? ( Besides that the Cylinder has no top or bottom surface, removing 28 triangles )

If you take a look at the stock maps barrels for instance, they use 9 or 10 sided brushes. I rarely found cylinders in the maps. I would try and NOT use cylinders. I don't know for sure, but by looking at the mesh that is made I would think it would be harder for the cpu to draw the cylinder.

Yes, but my theory is that a mathematically round object could be optimized and replaced by a simpler shape using shadow blending to create the smoth surface of a cylinder... but maby with fewer faces... no idea... just looking for someone to tell me...

Creating a Primitive Cylinder would lower the facecount, which should help with the FPS.

I think curves are better, for reasons Bjarne mentioned...
