editing brushes

How can I make extremely skinny brushes easily? I found that by using the shrinking tools I can make small brush, but there has to be an easier way than that.
My main beef is that when I edit vertices or edges, or make any brush for that matter, the brush automatically sizes to the graph. I'd like to make a staircase of more realistic proportions (not 2:1 or 1:1).
I'd appreciate any help.

Hmm?? Don't really know what you mean. The smallest brush you can make in mohradiant is a brush that is 1x1x1 units. 16 units are about one feet in real life.
In order to draw smaller brushes change the gridsize. I think that by default it's 8. You can set it to 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 etc.
The player are 96 units high, a step for a stair can't be any higher then 16 units in game or else the player has to jump to get up.

Ok, I guess I was a little all over the place there. Here's another try. If I make a wall, the smallest thickness I can make it is 1 block on the grid (someone said that was size 8?, which is plenty thick for a wall), if I wanted to make a shutter on the window of my wall, I would definately want to make a brush skinnier than my wall. Much to my frustration I cannot as the brush only grows or shrinks along the grid.
I'd like to be able to change the size of my brush to smaller than 8X8X8.
I think what I'm looking for perhaps is the ability to switch grid sizes. I tried before (selecting the size on the menu at the top) and my grid disappeared. Any tips?

Use your keyboard numbers (1, 2, 3 etc) to switch grids. 1 is the smallest grid.

8 units isn't very thick for a wall, I make mine with min 16, there are 16unit walls in MOHAA levels where you can see the rifle of s/o inside peeking through the wall, so you might want to make it even thicker, but then he (the one inside) can't see so much of the outside...
In the lower right corner of MOHR is written which grid-size is active. Standard is 8. If you change it and the grid disappears, zoom in or out, and it will reappear.

What they said! Not to get repetitive here but this is a little chart to make it easier to understand.

The number keys on the keyboard are grid sizes as follows:
#------------(
Units)--------------(
In Inches)
Key--------Grid size--------Actual size in real life
--
1--------------
1----------------------
.75"
--
2--------------
2----------------------
1.5"
--
3--------------
4----------------------
3.0"
--
4--------------
8----------------------
6.0"
--
5--------------
16--------------------
12.0"
--
6--------------
32--------------------
24.0"
and so on.................you get the picture!

Ahh.. now I have it. Thanks guys, expecially for the quick reply. Now I can add those details I've wanted.
I'll have to look at making my basic wall 16 units wide. That adds up to a wall a full foot thick though, seems kinda unrealistic that someone would make a house with all their walls that thick. Did they make the MOHAA maps with 8 thick walls, or 16?

Wall size depends on the map and your style. Don't worry if they're a bit thick at first sight. Remember a wall usually has to support multiple floors. Most walls I've seen in custom maps are way too thin.
