k guys i started doing a class room with some 64 chairs, i created one everything ok. buit then i wanted to add to the chairs a back thing (i'm portuguese i dunno what to call it...) like sown in the picture. i tryed and tryed and nothiung. this is how i soved the problem:

i created a bruch made it a cilinder with 16 faces. then i created another cilinder and got it over the other. i subtracted the 2nd cilinder to the 1st it ran ok, but my back of the chair is constituted by some 8 faces.

is this why my map is taking so long to full compile (fast compile - 1 to 1:30 min)?

can anyone tell me how to make this just one bruck with one curved face? (i tryed the cuerved tutorial form .map but no success it only gets us to do cilinders and curved shapes but not a concave face...

here are soome shots:

Make your chairs detail and your map will compile within seconds 8)

Make anything that doesn't reasonably block sight detail.

i was planning to put an AI of my philosophy teacher with a custom skin and the objective was to kill her :D isn't that a good idea?

another strange thing, my chair the one with the hole, from the front view, has no hole :D how come is this possible?

cmon guys stop comenting my gencidal ideas and help me with the holes in the chairs, i solved this by putting these two chairs structural, but i'd rather have them all detail... WHAT'S THE PROBLEM CAUSING THESE HOLES? IS THERE A WOOD BUG EATIN MY CHARIS?

After using CSG subtract you can end up with brushes that are not aligned to the grid. Brushes that not are aligned to the grid can behave in this way. You might solve this by selecting the brushe in mohradiant (make sure that you have the smallest gridsize, 1) and then align the brush.

Next problem after using that could be that brushes start overlapping each other. You need to align all chair brushes and then edit any overlapping brushes. This is one of the reasons I never use CSG Subtract. I find the clipper tool to do a better job even if it means some more work. If you just make one perfekt chair then you can copy it and brushes will still be aligned.

A small patch mesh could do the trick!!
