stock maps

I've read the bots tut and have a basic idea of how they work and why they don't work for stock maps..... but......

if someone was to decompile a stock map, place pathnodes around it and compile it, just to creat a .pth file, then script in the pathnodes/bot spawn points into the origial maps scr file - wouldn't that work?

Just want to know if that is possible before I spend a few weeks trying it for nothing....

The game would recognize the missing pathnodes I'm afraid.
