Tool:Adding botsupport to new maps (get it here!)

I stumbled on this program while surfing and I thought it might be usefull for MOH mappers to get bots in their levels. It's a tool for Quake3Arena but it might work for MOH too...not sure.
Before you can place bots into your brand spanking new level we need to create a file which helps that bots find there way around etc..
Included with Q3Radiant was a small dos program that does it but I use a neat little front-end compiler which is much easier.

***INFORMATION***
This BoT making help has the BSPS-GUI.exe and the BSPC.exe that so many of you didn't know where to get. It also has an explanation as to how to add bot support...

***Preview*** Hi guys. This readme file will teach you how to add bot support to your map. If you don't understand something email me at levnagdimunov0@hotmail.com. I'll be glad to anwser anything. NO SPAM. Ok lets get started....

***Actual Help*** First you need to copy the folder you got in this .zip (How to add bot support.zip), called BSPC-GUI to any directory on you hard drive. Now that you've done that, copy the file that you also got in this .zip called bspc.exe to the BSPC-GUI folder you alraidy should have on your hard drive. When your done that, run the file called BSPC-GUI.exe . When it opens click "Select .BSP file" and find the .bsp of the map you want to add bot support to and then press open. Now that your done that press "Process file".(If you want to know what the other buttons do open the readme you got with BSPC-GUI.exe) That will open a DOS window. Don't touch it untill its done. You will know that it is done becouse it simply closes the DOS window. Contuinue to the next section...

***How to Add the .ASS file to your .Pk3 so you have bot support***

The .ASS (your bot support file) will appear in your BSPC-GUI folder. It will be named whatever your map name was exept the extension will be .ASS . Now when your creating your .pk3 file you should have a folder in it named "maps" where your .BSP file goes, well thats also where you put your .ASS file. If you only want to test how bots work in your map you don't have to do all that. Just put the .ASS file in your "C:\Games\Raven\Star Trek Voyager\Base EF\Maps" directory. (all computers have the game installed in different directories so make the adjustments you need, the ending must be "Base EF\maps". Now run the game and your Bots should work.
I love JV-Maps bots and would like to see more maps using these bots (maybe in the future even the real multiplayer maps that came with MOH?).

Anyways I uploaded all the files you need on my webspace, so go get it: http://home.wanadoo.nl/ben.leuk/HowToAddBotSupport.zip

I hope this tools will help all you mappers a little to get JV-Maps bots into more levels, because they deserve it. They own!

It's a frontend for a tool...
Description : This programme gives you a front-end for Mr. Elusives BSPC v1.07

Usage : Ensure BSPC.exe is in the same directory as BSPC-GUI.exe
: BSPC-GUI saves the .aas file to the same directory as the source .bsp file.
: BSPC-GUI support tool-tips.
To use tool-tips, hold your mouse over a command for a short time you will be presented with a description.
Options :
- Tick Dual Processors only if you have a dual processor system and run NT4 or Windows 2000.
Windows 95/98/98SE *DO NOT SUPPORT* multiple processors.
- Tick Disable Output to speed things up slightly.
- Tick Dont Write Liquids if you want the bots to ignore liquids (lava, slime and water).
- Tick Recalculate reachabilities if you ONLY changed the entities inside the .BSP file since last compile.
This will disable all other options. Ensure you have the .AAS file and the .BSP in the same directory.
- Tick Disable brush chopping and the brush overlap won't be removed.
- Free the BSP tree is untested
- Tick Convert .BSP to .MAP to do so. You must have a valid Q3 BSP selected.
The .MAP file is created in the current directory.
- Tick Optimise .AAS file to optimise it. Ensure you select the .AAS with the Select .AAS file button.

I put all the files/programs you need in the zipfile...plus a small "How To".

I posted this only 30 minutes ago, so :)

I am no mapper, but I am very curious if it works with MOH:AA too. I hope some mappers will try to use it soon.

I'll keep an eye on this topic...

If you get this error message:

Image

Type this in "RUN" box in WindowsXP: regsvr32.exe comdlg32.ocx ..and press return.

If it still don't work try to get an updated version of the file:
http://click.alltheweb.com/go2/2/atw/1c ... mdlg32.ocx

The file is placed in Windows\System32 dir.

(worked for me)

Go here: http://www.webattack.com/help/missingfiles.html

Hope this helps.

No this doesn't work. Quake 3 (and RTCW) uses an Area Awareness System (.aas - not .ass ;)) whereas mohaa doesn't.

The tool is useless and won't work for mohaa. Also because bsp version differs.

Small Tutorial from the BSPC creator.

Is their a small possibility to make a MOH version of the tool?

Mohaa cannot read .aas files.

Also you might want to replace the quote with just a link, because this is an extremely long quotation

Isn't there a way to make a similar program or edit the existing one to work with MOH?
