I tried and follow your instructions JV, but I can't get any sound?
I made a mus file thestorm1.mus
I have a mp3 stored in sound/music called thestorm1.mp3 (not in a pk3)
the mus file look like this
path sound/music
normal thestorm1.mp3 // Plays over entire level
!normal volume 1
!normal loop
When i start my level the console says "soundtrack switched to music/thestorm1.mus"
"playing music/thestorm1.mus" "music set to normal with fallback normal"
I can't hear the music?? JV what have I done wrong (yes....I have not turned down the music volume).

And i have the "soundtrack thestorm1" in the script....(or else it wouldn't load at all I guess).

I think I said something wrong at TMT
The script command should say:
soundtrack "music/thestorm1.mus"
instead of
soundtrack thestorm1
Unexpected console message though.

Hmm tried that to! It will still not play (but still seems ok in the console).
Next question! I have an mp3 but does it have to be of an certain quality or something? I noticed that my mp3 is 112k bits/second but others ingame mp3 are 128k bits/sec....could that make a difference? I'll remake it but if you figure something out pleas let me know.

I swaped the mohaa main theme aginst my file, it plays niceley so it shouldn't be anything wrong with it.
What I'm I doing wrong. Does the mp3 have to start with mus_mymp3.mp3 ? shouldn't matter because I call for it in the .mus file with the name I have set.
Exactly where in the script should the "soundtrack" thing be?

I went over everything again..couldn't notice anything wrong!! Started the game and entered the map......and there it was!!! No problems any longer!

Below level waittill spawn should do it.
Maybe try if it works in single player mode.
Moved to scripting, hope you don't mind.

OK!! JV thanks to you I got my music (a very good pieced riped from an other game).
Now I wonder if you can help me with one other thing (or anyone else). Anyone tried getting a mp3 to play while loading the map, and when done loading it shoud say "continue" before you enter instead of moving directly into the game.
Is this possible?

Probably you can start the music earlier by moving it to the very top of your script instead of below level waittill spawn.
Don't know about the continue button

Hmm but when will it start reading the scr ?? A basic scr starts with scoreboard stuff etc. I don't think it will go through the scr until it's finished the BSP (or at the very end).
I don't know really what to do but maybe it's not possible....it was just an idea! Guess it's not possible to start a sound through the loading.urc, it's only for the pictures and stuff.

Script execution starts quite early, about half way down the loading process.

I've put it everywhere in the script now!! No music until the loadingscreen have ended and you enter the map. Maybe this isn't possible but I can't really see why!! Hmm what should I try next?

Maybe you can incorporate a sound in the loading screen

.
Might want to look in the UI documentation (some ships with the spearhead SDK). You can dump all from the console but I forgot the command

.
Probably cg_dumpallsomething
