Ideas for Prefabs!!!

I was thinking of making a bunch of Prefabs that others could enjoy and use. Is it best to use Radiant to do this or does someone have a better idea? Just curious. If you have any ideas on some Prefabs that you would like to see, let me know! I'm not bad at all when it comes to mapping and creating things but when it comes to scripting, now that's a different story!

Prefabs I have looked for but never found were decent bunkers, they were all pretty standard so's it wouldnt hurt if we pasted someone elses into our maps. Also basic stuff like lamposts, telegraph poles with wire attached already, decent fences with barbed wire on top. Some watchtowers would be cool, I just made one almost the same as the ones in Flughafen, I did found another tower prefab but it seemed way out of proportion, I mean all the brushwork was great but musta been 100ft tall.

If you want my watchtower I can post it somewhere for you, I also had a go at a fence too.

Those are some great ideas and I will see what I can do to tackle them. Anyone got any more ideas you would like to see? I'd be more than willing to try something for you. Give me some basic dimensions and I'll put something together. Thanks again Jack for the ideas!

Maybe some good destroyed houses, or some small terrain things, like hills etc.

O.K.?!?! You guys are asking for big stuff, now how about some more smaller stuff. I like detail and things that require some thinking. Btw, JV, Innkeeper, Surgeon, anyone else, what would be the requirements for certain prefabs? Would you want them to be detail if certain items and is there any other things I should be worried about when creating stuff like number of brushes, etc., etc. Give me some hints and tips! Maybe this could be my forte. Prefabs for all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I just realized, I'm over 100 now! Whoa! Have I really been here that much? That's nothing compared to most of you I know. You too Yarik. Anyway, .MAP is great, give me chocolate cake! (Bill Cosby rendition!)

Later!

when you say small... how small dya mean?

possible furniture would be good, chest of drawers, wardrobes, beds,

or make some new nature prefabs, more trees, even a palm tree maybe...

or just make some new skins for a man called "Chester Drawers" :P

 You are very funny nuggets, very funny! I like a little humor now and then. Anyway, what I meant by smaller prefabs was things other than like roads and buildings, not that I wouldn't do it, but was thinking more along the lines of smaller objects that are easier to install for any mapper. Buildings and roads are cool, but there would be alot of things you would have to do to get it to fit in your map. So I was thinking of smaller objects that you don't have to worry about that like furniture, props, misc. stuff that is easier to place in any map. Thanks for the ideas, guys. This is what I was hoping for. Some good ideas to start with. Any more ideas would be great too. And I would even consider special requests with your personal dimensions and ideas. Thanks everyone! Happy Mapping!

Hmm, can't really think of much. You don't happen to have a couple of canyons?..,-)
Personally I see no reason to use someone elses prefabs. The way I see it, making them is the fun part of mapping. Building on a map can be really boring (and annoying as well if it's not going as planned). Most of the time I can't wait to start making a nice fence or a 'cosy' bunker. So I won't be using someone elses stuff if ya know what I mean.

But to answer your question, it might be nice to see some more (different) prefab-crates, util boxes, panels, barrels and warning signs (i.e. "Halt!", "Minen", "Gefahr" etc.) Say you made five warning signs, then you could save them all to one prefab. The mapper can then easily pick the one he needs. You know, mainly little things which are bound to certain textures and sizes anyway.

I agree with you totally Pantera, I don't really want to do big things for the simple fact that in doing it, it basically takes the fun out of designing it (your map) yourself. I really want to do the small stuff that does look different from the stock prefabs but still useable. One quick question. When you design something in Radiant that you want to have as a prefab, what is the proper way to save it and maybe combine it with others as you stated earlier so it can be downloaded as a .zip file and then used? Do you make it into a .pk3 file no matter how many prefabs you have in one file? Give me some examples, please, of different situations if you could. Thanks for insight and knowledge! Happy Mapping!
