How do people make GUNS?

Post by Yarik »

I have looked through all of the tiki files and textures and shaders and pretty much understand how to set up the basic pk3 file for the gun. But i dont understand is when you model a gun do you have to add like triggers at the end of the gun where the muzzle will come out and where you will reaload? After seeing the Flamer I was amazed that people can make this without having the company help them with tuts. So if anyone know any thing do tell.

Just model and get the alignment right.
Live to map, not map to live.

A few Programs. Gmax, Milkshape. And something else I dont remeber.
I finished 80% of the tutorials for "Modeling for Beginners".
The reason I am using Gmax is that I dont have the money to buy 3dsmax and Gmax is really much easier to use then stupid Milkshape. I only use milkshape to export it into a MOHAA file. BTW I finally got my Greece gun exported into MOHRadiant. Its looking nice. I jsut need to add some textures and add some Invisible triggers in Milk Shape. Oh and try to make a shader adn a tiki file for it.

When you export from milkshape the tikis and shaders are automaticly made  . I've got a picture of an m2 carbine i made. :? It's got some glitches i dont know how to fix (the white spots around the gun)

BTW there is no way to actually replace the guns in MOH:AA with Milkshape. It's only possible with 3ds max.

But how do you make a new gun work in the game? Can you tell me? How can I get it so that I can hold it? And other people who have the mod can pick it up?

If you've looked at my beretta model post, you'd know. You need someone with 3ds max to export it to a *skl format then they change that to a *skd format then you can use it in game.

you can export your model, with no bones. then edit the exported tiki. that could make it a model, but there are no new animations. so it looks kinda funny if your dont align it properly. check out www.planetmedalofhonor.com/aoi/screenies.html look at the ingame. i made all of those in milkshape(which is awesome by the way). there are no animations for reloads etc. although the mp5 looks like it does, because i modeled the clip away from the gun. well if you need anything else just drop a note in the aoi forums.
