ARGH!!! this pisses me off
every time i try to install spearhead my comp shits on me :X it says this program has performed an illealge operation and will close now.
and then... then it says the registration code wasnt correct when i never even got far enough to put in the code!!!
WTF IM REALLY FUCKING PISSED OFF PLZ SOME ONE HELP ME :x :x :x

i dont think you understand.... ive owned this game quite a while my system used to run XP and now it is on 98 and it worked fine on XP but not even installing on 98...

because my computer shit on me and 98 was the only one i could 'leagily' get for free... cuz i had ME before that and it was shit too... and i wanted XP but erm... i couldnt cough up 150$ to get that on my comp it already costed 300$ to fix it... (cuz i tricked my mom into buying a geforce 4 and an intel4... shhh) heheheh and a new motherboard which was something i actualy needed but anyways thats why i have 98... and spearhead flips out on my :@ plz help...

you probably are smart :wink: . Open your Start option on the toolbar. Go to Run. Then in the given space type dxdiag . Then when that opens click the Save All Information. Then copy that text and put it on a post here.

Question
Why am I getting some Errors or issues during Install?

Answer
Make sure that you have closed any programs or tasks running in the background as sometimes one of the programs can conflict with the game. Background applications such as anti-virus programs are often the cause of conflicts.

If you have more than one CDROM drive make sure you have tried to run the game from each of the different drives.

Errors are generated by the Install shield program, which is used to install programs on your system. They may be due to some missing or corrupt system components. Try the steps below to help take care of this issue:

1. If you are using a Windows 2000 or Windows XP machine, you need to have administrative permission to run an Install Shield setup. Make sure the account you are using has administrator access.

2. Try cleaning out your C:\Windows\Temp directory. Do not delete the folder itself, rather open the folder, select all of the contents, and then delete them. Don't worry that you will erase something that you'll need, the system will tell you if you are about to delete something that your computer is currently using. If there is no Temp folder, create one.

3. Double-click the My Computer icon and then navigate to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Install Shield". Move the Engine folder to your desktop and then rerun the setup. This should replace the Engine folder within the Install shield folder for you. If not, then you can move the Engine folder on your desktop back.

4. Reinstalling Internet Explorer (IE) 5.x can also repair a number of corrupted/missing core Windows files from your machine, so reinstalling IE 5.x is also suggested. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/dow ... efault.asp to download and install the newest version.

5. If you are trying to install to a Windows 98 machine, download and run DCom98.exe from the following site: http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom98/download.asp.

6. Make sure that you are using the latest version of the Install Shield engine. To install the latest engine, go to http://support.installshield.com/kb/vie ... id=Q105097 and follow the instructions on the page.

7. If you just ran an Install Shield setup, the engine takes a few seconds at the end of the installation to clean up. During this time Ikernel.exe (the engine file) is running in memory from a previous process; that is why you are not allowed to launch another setup. Waiting a few seconds and running the setup again should resolve this.

A few other things I've noticed: You video card drivers are way out of date download a new one from http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=win9x_43.45 . You might also consider downloading the latest version of directX from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/downloads/ . Download version 9a.
