Reading up on the ubersound workaround. I have in my map an explosion and i am trying to get sound for this:

classname fx_explosion_bombwall
model emitters/explosion_bombwall.tik

I can't find this in ubersound.scr.

Any help? Im VERY new to working with sound.

Check the console for errors, it'll give you the alias of the sound used. I think is starts with something like, Error playing sound.

Didn't see anything like that there. I used bombwall and when i did a search with ubersound.scr in notepad, i couldn't find anything (same with uberdialog)

Well its a waste of time looking in uberdialog !

Seems strange you aren't getting any errors, if your using the ubersound work around, none of the sounds should work and the console should be littered with errors, untill you add them to a tiki.

lol about uberdialog. I didn't think anything would be in there but thought i would check it out anyway. This is my first attempt at ubersound workaround, so i will probably make tons of errors. I think that the only sound not working is the bombwall.

Does the sound work if you prefix the map with test. I checked the tiki file, and the sound line is commented out, so I'm not sure it has a sound anyway.

The tik file itself has the sound line commented out as stated above. Try using the alias (in the ubersound.scr file)

m6l3_explode_interior1
or
m6l3_explode_interior2

Give your exolosion effect a targetname of something like bombed_wall_1
and then in your script write:

$bombed_wall_1 playsound m6l3_explode_interior1

That should get you the sound your looking for.

When I use the ubersound workaround I rename the alias to something custom so as not to be confused with the original alias. So if it were me I would copy the alias cache m6l3_explode1 line to my custom tiki file and then rename the alias to my_bombed_wall_sound and of course leave all the other parameters as is and in the quotes I would add my mapname and obj and dm like so "mymapname obj dm " and get rid of any other name in the quotes. Then in script I just call the custom named alias instead.

I didn't realise that explode_interior1(and 2) were the sounds for this. I was lookin for explosion_bombwall or something to that effect. I'll try. Thanks

Or you can make your own tiki and use your own name if it doesn't work.
