Help! Computer doesn't boot up!!!!

Will someone help me? I have a problem with my PC and currently using my dad's laptop. I recently installed new RAM. Ok, good. It was giving my problems with the new RAM. Ok, no good. I removed my old ram (256) and left my new one in (512). At least that's what I thought I would do. Unexpectingly, I removed both rams.

Guessed what? Ok, I figured it for a while and finally got both of them back in. Good. Tried to turn on my computer, and guess what? The screen is blank, there's a loud beeping sound that lasts for 5-7seconds and stops, then the sound turns on again. OMG! Help!

For those ppl working as techincians, could you advise me? Pls? Without my PC, means no mohaa. Without mohaa, means no maps, no scripts, no skins. Without maps, scripts and skins, means no Trench Rats demo. Without Trench Rats demo, means no promosing mods!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!

That beeping means there's something wrong with your new RAM, unfortunatly it could be anything from faulty hardware to not inserting the RAM correctly.

Try putting just your old RAM in, to get your comp working again, then add your new RAM again.

Make sure your using the correct type of slot, i.e. SIMM or DIMM, make sure the new RAM is compatible with your motherboard and old RAM.

I tried it before, used the old one, removed the new one; removed the new one, left the new one. Used all these methods. And I'm sure it's DIMM.

One more important thing I forgot to say, there was some kind of explosion inside, and there was a smell.

EXPLOSION!

Argh! That doesn't sound good. Maybe you should take everything out and check for burn marks or something like that to see where this little explosion took place. Maybe you have something somewhere that shorted out. Lotsa beeps, no PC. Bad joojoo. Something is wrong and it probably wont work until you find the bad part. Taking the computer apart to find the problem isn't a real lengthy task. Being very careful and documenting how things go together while you take stuff apart would help you put everything back together the way it's supposed to be if you decided to try and find the problem yourself. Just make a note for yourself and investigate the problem. It may be your RAM, but it might be something else, too.

yes that is the right ram - from what you've said, if you heard a pop and had a smell - you prob damaged your mobo. More than likely one of the buslines from the ram fried out. If the damage was caused by faulty ram, there should be a warranty to have anything damaged replaced. Call the store you purchased the ram from and explain that you put the new ram in, heard a pop and smelled smoke and now your pc no longer functions. They should point you in the right direction on how to settle your claim.

It is something to think about but I have never had any problems with it. Something is probably just pinched or the motherboard got tweaked by accident when you installed the RAM which caused it to short out. My guess is something shorted out if you had an explosion and then a smell. I'm an electrician by trade and when that happens to me, that is the situation Every time. Somewhere, somehow, something got shorted out or the Mobo is cracked or something isn't making a good connection. It may be something else but I would look for the black charring somewhere and your problem will most likely be that. Hope you find it before it gets too expensive!

I sent my comp for service, and my mobo is wrecked.

I have 2 options:

1)Pay for a new mobo
2)Send it for repairs (free) but for 1mth

???

Couldn't you do both?
Send the old one for repairs AND buy a new one. So you'd have a mobo for now and could sell the old one once it is back!?
