Hey Guys,

I'm putting together a map project that will consist of a number of missions, but my first mission will be at night. All the night maps in MOHAA look extremely cool.

I could use some pointers on how to approach making the map, especially when it comes down to lighting. Can anyone give me some ideas, or point me towards any good lighting tutorials?

Peace, and if you have guns, war.

I guess a blue sunlight would do the job.

Try not to use too many lightpoles. It makes the map look like a Christmas one ;).

A map without working lamps will look much more dramatical and fearsome 8)

blue sunlight sounds cool, actually, thinking about it, blue does seem to be the recurring theme in the maps i've seen, RtCW used blue as well.

the first map in the mission series has to be dark, and there won't be many light poles, as the mission only has a couple of buildings that are well spaced out. i think i'll generate the warmest light from the buildings....and stick to ambient light for the open spaces.

dramatical and fearsome is just what i'm looking for :)

a really nice midnight blue would look cool... im sure you know there are 3 numbers that make up your skys color here is what i would use: 3. 0. 130.

that makes great blue for night maps :D

How do you make the sun blue? Can some one tell me? And you dont do the flare or people will think its a weird map right?

to make the sun blue... make make a sky box using a night sky texture and with the whole sky box selected hit 'n' type:

Key:suncolor
Value: 3 0 130 (and make sure you get the spaces right)

dont add a sundirection because it will cause the map to have a sunflare... and dont add a sunflare because this will do the same... so actualy if you make a map that you need to have a sun flare all you need is sundirection...

Remove a flare by setting:
sunflarename / none

Then you can set a sundirection :D
