Finished my map Stalingrad1942.

Axis have to blow up some Russian ammo stocked in a factory
I have used some custom texture to try to get some russian atmosphere.

Keep in mind the Russian snipers so Axis use some snipers to.

I have included more Russian signs in the map. I tried to spell them correctly but don't know if they are all ok. Cause I'am Dutch...

Dude- If you want true Russian text, let me know. My wife is a native and helped out with my 'Tractor Works' maps with several signs. Never hurts to track down some authentic period propaganda stuff like posters. Looks good, have to DL and see for sure! :D

Anyway, looks right to me, but to be sure in the future, email me or try to catch me with a post here. Not been around much lately, remoding my basement as opposed to mapping lately.............

Ok, just ran around a bit so these are my first impressions. First, nice posters, didn't find them for my stuff! ;)

Next, a few spots where there are some brush conflicts/overlaps that create transparent areas. Also in the neighbor hood are some unaligned or really out of place textures like a room with half a wall one texture and the other half something totally different from a nearby building. The only other issue I could see that created visual issues is in a few spots where what I guess is a Terrain patch that gaps from a distance revealing white underneath. Tough to catch all those buggers, but try to back them up with solid brushes the same color as the terrain. Also I'd make your shell holes a bit deeper, don't get a real feeling of doing 'into' a hole as you run over it.

Ok, BIG PLUS......... NICE frame rates! Really mid-80s to low 90s for me most of the way. You don't have too many crazy angles or funky/busy stuff going on so that really helps. Didn't notice fogplane...doesn't really need it as it's a nice compact map.

If I were to tweak it I'd neat up the brush work, add some more detail/eye candy stuff...not much, just 'deepen' the experience a bit. I love the underground lighting system, but if you add on the standard utility/coronas that will add more atmosphere at no fps cost. And I'd tweak the lighting a bit, seemed a little dark for me, but that could be just my monitor settings. Guessing it is your first map and it's pretty cool. I think some more detailing of it would go a long way. Now, build on it and see how cool your next map can be. :P

Thanxx for the good tips.

It's not my first map but my third.

The texture faults i have noticed after the release
Sometimes i work a bit to fast and then i lose some areas. :D

I made it dark on purpose because a test version seems to be to light and give to much headshots with sniperrifle.

I have mad the Russian text with an online dictionary
Slyk, can you tell me if they are correct ?
And in case you need posters.....

OK, couple more notes for you. The text on your load screen and one sign laying by the Soviet hammer/sickle......"Stalingrada"... should actually be just "Stalingrad" no "a" on the end. In the context of the sign it is wrong. As for the load screen, the "a" would be added if you are talking about "The battle of..." or "in the region of...". Also picked up a couple new areas where I saw 'through' textures. Take your time and go back through the level in MOHRadiant and look up a lot where you will see brushes that probably have caulk on them or conflicting corners.

One more big piece of advice, try to realign many of the textures so that you have smooth transitions from one brush face to the next. In many places your textures on a wall of three parts have the same texture starting and stopping in three positions. Highlight ALL the faces with the same texture and press 'ctrl+F' to align them. It makes a big difference and pulls all your walls together. A couple spots you may need to 'snap' the brushes to the grid where you can see 'leaks' through the edges. OR you could extend one brush face beyond the other to cover the gaps if they are aligned...some video cards may cause the gapping feature even if all brushes are snapped to the grid. Also, from one or two spots you can see off into the 'void', try to block those views so the world seems to be enclosed.

Ok, two more notes on your posters. The first is about Lenin... although his image may have been seen, it is most likely that in the time of the war you would see Stalin everywhere. Second, the poster at the top of a ladder. It is absolutely from after the war. Two reasons, first the guy is holding a version of an AK-47 and secondly, because my wife read it and said so.

OH, and your metal doors, give them the properties of:
Key: doortype Value: metal

That'll give you metal door sounds for your metal doors...one more touch of realism.

You could have a good 'swirling' type DM/OBJ map with some cleaning up and such.

AND, I'm a pain in the ass, sorry. I'd suggest a little bump in the lighting and throw in a fogplane with a gray or blue color at maybe 3000 or 3500 units. That will better light your map and decrease the snipers domination at long range. Maybe even shorter distance of 2500, depends on what looks good. With the high frame rates you could use a 'no cull' of 0 and have a nice look.

Ok that's enough for now. :D

My first plan was to use the famous "Mother Russia" poster
But i could't find it.

More posters you will find here

I will use your advice but the problem is when i change the map end give it again you will have two versions.

I'am now working on a V2 style map which is much easier I have discovered.

You have update choices like releasing with a NEW zip file name like adding v.1.1 etc to it AND then leaving the pk3 with the same file name, just ask the user to overwrite everything and it will be fine. I'd suggest doing a pre-final release to a few people to get input and ideas. Email it to them directly or give them a DL link that only they will see. That way it doesn't populate too many places and have version issues.

n00b alert !

Drecks, some news has popped up...

Check the following url: http://www.sohclan.com/downloads.htm...

Follow "Click here" to the page with the downloads links, then download "Stalingrad 3"...

Load the map in MohAA... and... *#@(#(@ WTF &@#%(&%#....

It's Stalingrad 1942... with some n00bs name under it...

The D*mb*ss M*thaF*cka has put some trucks and tanks in... that don't mean he can claim it as his right ?

ps. The other downloads listed on that site are also 'name-altered' and certainly not his...
