Full/Final Compile ......will it work if you have errors?

Post by Wittmann »

Hello

I'm in the middle of doing a full compile, well 35% actually, and the whole thing seems to have ground to a halt. It's been stuck on 35% for a few hours now,(all afternoon) and doesnt look like tis gonna go any further.

I did have a few errors ( degenerate/duplicate plane) x4 and a leaked trigger use entity ?? ( bizarre) so........

Question 1) when it compiles fully, does it do so in a steady manner, i.e the percentage goes up at regular intervals, or does it sit at certain stages for a long time before moving on........the reason I ask is that I dont want to bin the compile unless I have to.

Question 2) Will 4 degenerate plane errors make the compile fail, and if so, how do I find out where they are? I followed the coordinates that mbuilder produced and got rid of the offending brushes ( which looked ok to me and not causing any problems that I could see ) , then recompiled it and it came up with 4 different ones ........by this time I'm doing the wall of death around the room about to bin the whole blumin thing.

I have got a big vis size 1,200,000 but its a big map and I've detail brushed as much as I can, so can anyone else shed any light?

Cheers Chris

When doing a vis compile every % takes longer than the previous one :(

Degenerate planes are likely to create weird view glitches in your map, but they may also not be a problem. :?

Thanks JV ... I'm going back and reducing my vis size some more by getting rid of some unneccesary bits and pieces so will wait and see if it's progressed a bit later on

Thanks

Chris
