ctrl + f == fit texture to face.

It will shirnk or stretch a single "tile" to fit the entire face of the brush (No tesselation) .

Try to coordinate the texture by pressing "s".

Ctrl+F is fine, even for long brushes:
You'll get the correct value for e.g. the vertical scale and then you can enter the same value for the horizontal scale to get it undistorted again 8)

if you want to apply a texture to something like longer windows, and it needs applying with CTRL + F but u want it to appear side by side twice

--------------
...............
...............
-------------- if this is the basic texture you want for the window but it gets stretched too much over a window like

----------------------------
.................................
.................................
---------------------------- this, then make the window the same as the 1st size (exactly half of the second 1, use CTRL + F, then enlarge the brush to it's original size

you will then see two identical perfectly fitting textures side by side (but only over 1 brush) :D
