well,as a newbie, i learned a thing or 2 about file import export.

from 3dmax, just save as .3ds since Milkshape can import this type of file.
then you can create a directory to which you extract the textures from Mohaa with Winzip and save them there.

In Milkshape you can then assign any Mohaa texture to your model you just imported from Max.

then in Milkshape, you can export to Radient. And voil?!!!.

pretty neat.

No need for the quake3 importer or the max plugin.
by the way, i tried the max plugin with my 3dmax ver5.0 and it works, but it for skeletal work, not for models like buildings and stuff like that.

well, thats what i did for my needs and it works, hope it can be of any help to someone. :P

Why export from 3D max to milkshape??? Strange since milkshape can't handle bones! When you have 3D max then you have the perfect program to make any model for Mohaa/Spearhead!!...or..??

Just use the 3D max plugin that came with the Spearhead SDK and export your models as .skl, then use the tool (also with the SDK) skl_2_skx.exe and you will create the SKD and SKC files needed

so ur telling people to

model and animate with 3DSMax

3DSMax export
Milkshape import

texture with Milkshape

Milkshape export
Radiant import

all just for the sake of not getting the plugin... seems too much like hardwork, texturing can be done in 3DSMax anyway... what's all the bother with Milkshape for?

Yeah, 3dsmax is 100000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than milkshape and 3dsmax is good, milkshape is bad.

Yep! If you got 3D max, stick to it!! No need to do anything in any other program!!

ROX you missed a 0 out there, and the 1 should be a 2 :P

the only time u'll need 2 export from 3DSMax is when making your own game, or adding models to a previously made game (such as MOH)... :D

Like i said,im a total newbie,so i thought i'd share what i discovered.It looks like im taking a long detour..............

What i want is to build a tank farm, but without having to repeat drawing the same tank over and over.

but i want to use 3ds max ,and we all know why.

So i want to build my tank example in 3ds max.(can i texture it in 3ds max) and export it to mohaa radient. Itried texturing it in max but it gave me error message because the texture name in mohaa seems to be too long for max. so it modifies it ans when i export , mohaa doesnt recognize the texture file name.

Also do i need to triangulate my shapes before exporting.

Thanks again.
