.Map :: MoHAA Mapping

Hi i am new to mapping (started yesterday) and i am following the room turtorial at the moment. whwn trying to aply a texture after i have selected the texture i want i then go to the 3d view and de-select the part i just textured. When i take de-select away so it is not red it just goes brown or grey and the actuall texture does not show up.

i would be grateful if your could help thnx

What is your rendering quality in edit -> preferences and in view -> texture quality?

take a look at view -> render quality:
"Flat shade" is what makes just singlecoloured brushes...
Same function in the toolbar, it's a button called "Texture view mode"
