Ok log says
ERROR: Entity::LoopSound: sound/amb/amb_fireplace.wav needs an alias in ubersound.scr or uberdialog.scr - Please fix.
But there is one in ubersound that reads as such.
//================================================================================
//POSITIONAL AMBIENCES
//================================================================================
aliascache cricket sound/amb/Amb_Cricket.wav soundparms 0.28 0.0 1.0 0.0 100 900 auto loaded maps "dm moh obj train"
aliascache fireplace sound/amb/Amb_FirePlace.wav soundparms 1.3 0.0 1.0 0.0 150 1000 auto loaded maps "m4l3 m6l2a m5l1a dm moh obj train"
alias radio_loop sound/mechanics/Me.......blah blah bs bs bs
it says obj loaded maps.
it lies! grrrrrrrrr

In your script I take it you typed:
Code: Select all
$something loopsound "sound/amb/amb_fireplace.wav"
Instead, type:
And you'll be fine 8)

Duz it matter what it is ? A model or should it be a sound speaker?
Thanks Sire.

Anything that has a model can make sound.

model fx_dummy.tik
targetname river
then in my script $river loopsound cricket
and it doesnt work, though now I think about it I havent precashed the sound in my map precashe.....

i think u must precache it, or make a tiki file sound fix.

This should work. Check the log to see if you have any errors.
Check your scipt to make sure the command is being ran atthe right time and is being ran. Just put a println in the script just before or something.
Ubersound is a bit wierd, make sure there aren't other pk3 files overriding ubersound.

here is a line from ubersound.scr
// Sound channel priorities:
//0 - auto - This is considered the lowest audio channel priority. It always plays if possible (hardware audio channel available) and they don't override previously played sounds. If no channels are available, the sound will just not play.
maybe the auto channel is being used . Maybe play one at a time on that channel or use a tiki and put the sound on a different channel

as you already said, you'd better use and precache the tiki. If it's still not working even after you've precached then check the location of your sound-thread in the script.
When I had put my thread after 'level waittil spawn' and started the game with my own shortcut (+set cheats 1 +set g_gametype 4 +set pleaseletmelive 1, etc..blahblah) it gave me the same error. Only after I picked a team and joined the game the sounds were loaded (doh). I had then put the thread after 'level waittil prespawn' and it seemed to work fine (in most of the cases, 'cause I still get that error now and then...)
Ubersound is weird indeed, it worked for their game but they didn't really think ahead of us mappers when precaching all those aliases and then stuff it all in one file.

Model should be fx/dummy.tik. If you don't select a valid model, script_models may act very weird in Radiant.

i think a script model won't work.

Yeah I used a script model and selected fx/dummy.tik as my model. Still no workie. I also cashed in my custom.tik the folowng.

Jv told me to do it. And it seams to work, like all the weathersounds are in my level now, since I added these lines to my custom.tik file.

Do you get ubersound errors or can't you hear the sound? Do you realise the volume set in the soundparms is very low?
