I have been reading up on mapping and increasing FPS.
I have just read a review on the Thunder 2 CTF map by jv_map.
The map doesn't appear to be fully vised, that is, none of the buildings block sight.
What does fully vised mean? And the buildings blocking sight?

Obviously I want to keep my FPS as good as possible. I use the caulk everwhere necessary, and I assume removing the sections of Terrain so that they are not shown in the game also helps (can this be confirmed?).
Is there anything else I am missing? ie, making things fully vised?

i do hope this hasn't been addresses already!

Yes deleting individual facets of LOD terrain that are not seen will increase FPS.....as will caulking every brush face that will not be seen.

What I really want to do is get TheStorm, Balr14, JV and a few other guys and write a comprehensive guide to all this stuff - i realise that its something we're lacking at this moment in time.......

You will be able to find some very good tutorials at some quake sites.

Or just type 'quake 3 hint brush' in google

M4L0

I don't know about yours, but my MOHTools came with a map file named m4L0 in the docs folder--that map is a hidden mission in the game, btw. Anyway, m4L0 has examples of VIS brushes. They block what is drawn outside, when players walk inside one of them--there's more to it than that. So, when the reviewer said "vised", that is what he ment.
