Inverted endcap does not work properly

Just viewed the nice tutorial from http://www.carbongraphx.com/mohaa on the arches. I'm currently trying to get it also in my map, I followed everything like the tuturial. But get a problem with function curve -> cap -> inverted endcap. The result is as following:

How do I get it right?

Well I think you could just drag the control points to the right position.... It's a bit weird you get this though :?

Keep practicing

Keep practicing, you'll get it sooner or later. Another way to make arches is to use CSG Subtract on a solid brush. This tutorial on bombers has arches made of brushes (they explode), and you are welcome to copy them.

It is, however, generally a bad idea to make arches with brushes.

Why is that?

My friend developed an algorithm for making arches from brushes perfectly everytime, and I've found they are ten times better to texture then patch meshes.

Is there a particular reason why it's bad to make them from brushes?

Well looked at your map and tried it. Very cool.

What me made into making arches without brushes is that I get glitches. The arches look nice, but as in your test_bomber map, you can see that there are glitches. Maybe you need those brushes for your explosion, so that's ok. But really need to get it how to make some arches....

Like in southern france, I want those....

On the tutorial page of this very forum there is an easy to follow arch tutorial, try that one....

SF Arches

Ask and ye shall receive. Here is a prefab of some of the Southern France arches. The texture sizes, and a few overlaps, were caused by the decompile.

They used brush arches for the endcaps.

???
there are end caps! they are the arches! the front and back of the arches, MIG wanted to make with cap/inverted endcaps, are done different here: some bent square cylinders and brushes for the filling between straight walls and those bent cylinders.

Thanks tltrude!

Now I understand how these arches are made. Like in the tutorial you have to create brushes for the filling in, causing overlaps. With the inverted endcap function you can fill this automatically, only one thing is that your texture is not bended, but horizontal. That's ok with me for some parts of my map.

But still have not solved my problem....the inverted endcap does not make it fill correct like my first posting..
