Well i followed his tut propbly all they way to where it says turn it into a mesh when i put in the height and wiedth as 5 it makes the brush 2 things wide and the only thing left of the hill is like a big X bit on mainsteins it shows the hill/rock bit mines like an x , surgoen would you make me a cliff so its a prefab so i can just upload it , i just want a hill like its around an airforce base cause th building i built you can see out the window into the blank space :( :(

I am stressing out over cliffs too. I have started making two maps both need some steep terrain. One of the maps is " The Guns Of Navarone ".
So far I have made a really basic gun emplacement, I think I might use the working flak 88 from spearhead but scaled to 3 so they are huge guns, if you saw the film they are halfway up a cliff face. Maybe twice as high as the bunkers on Omaha.

Now heres where my pain is, I have tried using meshes, they kinda work but is there a way to join meshes, similar to the way lod snaps together, the edges of the mesh I just cant seem to get them to look joined, can you lock vertices on the edges of the mesh ?
I have tried using lod but cant get the face of it steep enough, it starts getting yellow vertices way before its steep enough.

Should I keep trying lod, meshes or just make it from brushes ?

ps. I did mansteins landscape tutorial too, all those meshes and the lod lag like hell, looks nice but isnt playable.

Heres a screenshot of the mesh version, its 1790 high, http://www31.brinkster.com/flyboysigh/guns.jpg
if the link does not work try pasting it into your browser :)

I've made some cliffs using meshes and that worked fine for me. Instead of trying to make them match up I simply overlapped one mesh with the other. And that worked well. I'll post a screen dump at some later time to show the result.

Here is some screenies of my cliff. Its about 900 units high at this point. So its not the highest cliff out there but I like the look of it, and it should be fairly easy to make one higher.

send make

Your cliffs are spot on Roger, I will continue with the meshes, maybe scale down my cliff a little, looks like I only need one a slightly higher than yours. Thanks for the screenshots.
