Selecting a hollowed out sky box and hiding it?

Hi all. I am new to this forum. I have two questiions I would hope someone can answer. I have tried to do search's to find the answers in
hopes of not asking redundant questioins.
Statement 1. I create a sky using a brush stroke, assign it as a func_group, give it a targetname so that I can pinpoint it for selection, using the Entity Window. And of course "hollow the sky box" then assign
it sky caulk, then on the inside parts, assign it sky texture of choice.
Ok, once this is done, in main window the sky box covers everthing else up, so that one cannot easily view and manipulate other entieties inside the sky area. So to hide the sky box entity I go to the Entity Select window and choice func_group, then the entity called sky.
I ASSUME THAT ALL THE SURFACES WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED SO I CAN THEN USE THE "H Key" to hide the sky entity so that I can then view other
entities in the map.
This does not work. I only get on side typically highlited. So the only way to hide the sky box (hollowed out brush stroke) is to individually select each side and top of the sky box.
When I first made the sky box, from a single hollowed key stroke I also tried to use the "cntrl-K Key" to group each side as a seperate entity hoping this might solve the problem of not being able to simply select the func_group (sky) and then hide it using the "H Key". This does not help.
So Question 1 is:
Is there a way I can make the func_group (all four sides/top/bottom brushes) be selected at the same time so that I can move it, or hide it?
OK, second statement. When I want to select a one or more brush surfaces in either the main window or in the 3D camera window......
SHOULD I BE USING THE "cntrl-A Keys"? This works but a little window
POPS up for adjusting the attributes for LOD terrain.
IN the Radient Tool Kit for Soldier of Fortune, there was a key sequence that allowed one to select on or more brush strokes without any second level functionality being activated. Put another way, no pop up windows that ask one to enter data.
So Question 2 is:
Am I using the correct key/keys in order to select one or more brush sides by using the "cntrl-A Keys"?
Lastly, I have looked in the cmd help window for how to select brushes and all I can see there is the reference to using the control-A keys.
Thank you in advance for any help with these questions.
