I am having trouble compiling my maps. I have followed the tutorial step by step and nothing works. Every time it compiles it has an error. Can anyone help me with this?
Another question: Do I need to make a .pk3 before playing?
I looked at the compiling issue post and i have the token problem. The thing is I dont even know where that shader is!

Did you try removing all custom pk3 files from your main and mainta folders?
You don't have to make a pk3 to test your map.

Yes, but that still doesnt solve my main problem. Does anyone know about that?

You must give us more to go on. What error are you seeing? Are you using MBuilder?

I am using Mbuilder
this is what it says
MatchToken ( "P=(" ) failed at line 14 in file scripts/crossfire.shader. It says that there is no .bsp file found either. Maybe if i send you the .map file you could find out whats wrong??
THANKS EITHER WAY!

I don't think you have found the error yet. The mismatch token shouldn't stop it from compiling. If you remove the crossfire courtyard pk3, that error should be gone. The no BSP one is because the first part of the compile failed.
Try this:
Under BSP option, click on change and type
-v > C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\bsp_log.txt
Then try to compile your map. A text file will show up on your desktop that you can search through for the error.

A shader parse error will stop the compiler.

I got it working on my other computer. MOHR seems to work better on it too! Thanks a lot though guys!

OMG now the compiler doesn't work on my other computer. It says the only error is that it cannot find the BSP file. I know I have all of the specifications set, too. I tried it again on the original computer, and now it has a different problem. It says something about a backwards Tree volume. Then after that it says that the file or directory can not be found. This is VERY ANNOYING

Did you make a structural skybox around your map?

No. How do I do that? Do I have to make a BIG box going around my other stuff?

okay, I reinstalled my MOHAA and MOHR and I still can't compile! It says that that the error is it cant find the BSP. That is all, nothing else. Does anyone have a possible solution?

I suggest you start reading in the tutorial section of this site and take some notes. You need a "sky box" to "seal" the map from "leaks" and to create a sky. (you don't need a sky though) All these terms you can learn by reading. I'm giving you this advice because I worked great for me. I spend more time reading about mapping that actually mapping and it has improved my abilities 10 fold.
