MP and 56K. Is this possible?

I've heard that some guys play online w/ 56k connection. is this possible? I've tryed but the delay is so huge you cannot shoot or escape normally...I've tryed lowering the settings but...

I've played online game for a few years with a 56k modem....it was bad but it really hones your skills - I now rock with an ADSL connection

all ive got to say is "999" ping..
im moving tomorrow so that "999" ping will no longer apply for me thank goD!!
I usually pay at internet cafes 5 bucks an hour or I go play moh at a friends or at my mothers during the night( havent been allowed on comp for about 3 months at my moms)

I'm moving to NY or LA (prob NY) so I'll wait 'til there for the cable connection.
BTW jv, ADSL is cool but i've heard that cable is the best. Is that right? Here in VA they cost the same...
