.Map :: MoHAA Mapping

Ok I need some help! I am a new mapper or should I say wanna be mapper. I can't even get past making a room ! I've been at it the last 2 days a few hours a piece and I can't do anything ! I follow the toturial all the way up until going inside of the room or atleast the room I think i've created I don't seem to have that 3d view that is shown in the top right corner of pic that is in room making tutorial mine just looks like a grid with no 3d or movement can some one help me ? i'd really like to learn how to do this

I have another PC that I tried this on and my cam view works on that one but every time I start radiant I get different views and I can't see what textures I want to select this is getting really frustrating I had my first room made was able to move my camera around the way it should but then when I started anew room later when I clicked on textures to go to common then caulk There was no window that showed pictures to select caulk from where did it go ? I really don't understand this thing thought I was getting somewhere and then this stupid thing pulled the rug out from under me can any one help me ? there has to be a way!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try this: Gor to Edit -> Preferences... In the Views/rendering select the first of the four modes ( the little squares with red letters in them )... my guess is that you currently have the third one selected.

Now restart Radiant... any better?

I have tried all of the choices and for some reason I can't see everything I need to. now in the first box I don't have the grid with the camera . the other views the texture box is missing ,in another the cam box is gone is there any way to open anyone of these that aren't open or close one if I want ?

After starting up MOH Radient, try hitting the "T" key to bring up the textures window. Then select textures/common on the menu. You should see the common textures available. Go to the tutorials on this site to help get yourself started:

His constant popups about not stealing his work are very annoying when I right-click to open in a new tab (netscape) or open in a new window, but the information is very good.

The main thing is to not get frustrated. It takes a long time and a lot of work. Just resolve yourself to learning the tools first, don't worry about making a good map yet. Just work through each of the tutorials step-by-step. After you've done all the tutorials, try making small maps and add new aspects of the tutorials into them with your own twist on them. The help here is great, although I thing it's starting to slow down a bit because of the summer. If your stuck on something, try using the search feature of this forum. Chances are someone has already had the same problem, and it's already been answered.

T for the tool bar worked ! my main problem seemed to be my vidoe card driver. read on here about it so I rolled driver back and now works great. Thanks for the advice ,I hope to continue this. I quit smoking 6 days ago so this is giving me something to do to occupy my mind. plus I've always wanted to learn how to map just never took the time to try and understand. hope I'll have a map to share with you guys in a few months
