The .min file is created when you first play your map and is used by the game to precache things for the next time you play it. It is a good Idea to include it in the same folder with your map (.bsp) and script (.scr) files because people with Apple computers can't play your map without it.

Search for "create pk3" in this forum and you will find lots of help.

Are you tring to make a final pk3 for your files, or just test your map? You don't need a pk3 to test it. Just put the mymapname.bsp file the compiler made in main/maps/dm and it will work.

A pk3 is a compressed version of the main folder. Start out by making a folder on your desktop and name it what you want the pk3 to be named.

Then gather all the files needed for your map and put them in folders with the same names that were used in main. For example: copy your bsp file from main/maps/dm (if that is where it is) and put it in your new desktop folder using folders named "maps" and "dm". If you have a script, that goes in there too. So does the .min file.

Ok, if you have custom textures, you have to create a folder named "textures" and one named "scripts" to hold the image files and the shader files. And if you have a custom loading screen you'll need a folder named "ui". Anyway, you should see a pattern here. All the files and there folder!

After you have them all, open the folder on your desktop and highlight all the folders in it. Then right click on one and choose "add to Winzip file (mypk3name)". This will create a winzip file "mypk3name.zip". Right click on the winzip file and rename it "mypk3name.pk3".

That's it, you are done! You can delete the folder on the desktop now.

thanks
