Day and Night Progression in Maps

This may as dumb as a post as they can get, but bear in mind, I'm pretty new to the mapping scene. Especially scripting.

Anyway, I was wondering if it is possible to make a day to night progression system in a multiplayer or single player map? The way I envisioned it, you'd have four different brushes, representing the sky in the morning, day, evening, and then night. As time goes on, the alpha on one brush would increase so that the next one would slowly become visible. It would also control the ambient lighting in the level. This would add a nice bit of realism and pazzazz to a map, if pulled off.

I doubt that I'd be able to even concieve of the things I need to do to make this, if it were possible, so I don't plan on doing to anytime soon. I'd just like to know if it were possible to do it.

you cant really do that. mohaa isnt really good at dynamic lightmaps.

lighting in compiling wasn't the question, and yes it is possible to animate textures, therefore leading from one time-of-day to another,

although no shadows will be changed :(

I'm sure many players wouldn't mind harsh shadows at night, or none during the day, especially in a multiplayer map, but would it even worth it to make it in a multiplayer map. I personally would enjoy playing on a map with time progression, but would y'all?

I don't think it is the changes in the sky you would notice but rather the light level . You can't change the ambientlight level you set in the editor and like alcoholic said mohaa is bad at dynamic light which is all you can do from script .

editing shader files with anim, or pulse will create the darkness and blendfunc of another "black" foreground, this applied to the sky and decreasing the transparency of it will make it darker

One thing I found by accident when I forgot to set a farplane color and that is that black is a farplane color and you can change farplane color from script . So maybe as it gets darker you can play with the farplane colors as well .

The farpalne can be manipulated dynamically without any problems:
