1. Can you make your own cvars? Like ones that the server master can easily change?
2. If I DELETE pathnodes, will the game crash?
3. Would the mere existence of pathnodes (no bots, ai whatsoever), would the game get a performance hit?

1. Yes, use setcvar.
2. Not sure, but you can use the disconnect_paths command to remove all paths in a volume (a notsolid script_object for example).
3. Not sure either, I don't see a reason why it should have any major performance hit. However I have been told any map with pathnodes may run very poorly if you don't restart the server often enough
