Rain and farplane

Hi all. Done a quick search of the forums and can't find an answer to this particualr problem so here goes:
I'm attempting rain for the first time and everything seems to be fine except the farplane. It's a very small map that I am making and I've given the worldspawn quite a large farplane just for a bit of haze and to get the lightning looking right. I know the rain is supposed to somehow control what happens to the farplane but does it shrink it?
I ask coz I've got mist in the corners of my rooms even though they aren't overly large and when it lightnings the mist lights up. To be honest it looks a bit pants for inside a building. So I guess my question is this: does the rain shorten the farplane? and if so - is there any way to override this? Or is there a way to stop the mist coming through my walls?

Thanks in advance all those who take the time to read this.

I think using this variant will work as the weather.scr uses the level.fogplane to reset the farplane ( not sure, but its worth a try ).

Code: Select all

$world farplane_color "0.3 0.3 0.3"
level.fogplane = 5500
$world farplane level.fogplane
What farplane value are you using if you get fog in a small room?

if you look at different angles, does the surface lose its mistyness? it might be because of some bug with straight, flag surfaces and farplanes.. i had a thread about it because my road was misty.

Here is a thread over at the TMT forum for "snow". There are a lot of level.rain settings. And, you can use a func_rain brush without the weather script even being called.

The tutorial they talk about is here at .map, though.
