angle question/clarification

Post by Ferril »

I've understood that when assigning an angle value to something like a ladder or door, you assume that 360/0 degrees is on the left when looking top-down.

However, on different maps I've had different results using this method. Sometimes it works, other times it's been off by 180 degrees.

Which is the supposedly correct method?

Doors

First for ladders:

While looking at your ladder in the 2D top view, click on the pink ladder brush in 3D and hit key N. Now look at the angle buttons and
pretend you are standing where it says "U|D". Which ever way you have to face to climb the ladder is the correct angle button. In my
example below, 360 and 0 are the same angle, and it is aways to the right in the 2D view (same as the buttons).

For doors:

Awhile back we found out that the angle should always be perpendicular (at right angles) to the long door face to pevent backwards
opening doors. In the image below, The two lower doors with arrows work correctly. The upper two doors with arrows are bad.
