the 2nd map ive released tonight, the 2nd of 4 coming out this week

its set in italy, just outside the Salerno, i dont know the year the allies invaded, but this is set in that year. its a quiet italian village, where no fighting has gone on yet, so nothing blown up or destroyed. the map is laid out with each team spawning at each end, and then they meet in the middle. theres loads of ways to the middle of the map, thru buildings and across balconies, and loads of ways to switch between each different path. it uses about 20 custom textures, aswell as a new skybox.
the map is also based on the dod map, dod_avalanche, one of the best maps in the game [until v1.0 took out the invisable ledge]. its also got the dod anti-spawncamping thing. you spawn inside a building, and the only way out is the windows. theyre not so high that you get injured jumping out tho, but high enough to keep out the other team. the allies also have a wall around theyre spawn building [a cafe] which only they can jump over.
and if you cant guess from the map name, there is going to be another Italy map

this is still beta, and has had a full compile, and no is_leafgroups etc, ill add those after. this version is just so i can find any bugs in it. i think its impossible to get under the map (every roof and wall has a clip brush over it a few 1000 units high), but there might be other bugs. one bug i do know is that theres an invisable wall in the house by the canal on the allied side, above the stairs

Veeeeeery nice!

The only thing I can complain about is that it looks to clean... like they just buildt it and dont let peoplei there because they will just make the place dirty... :)

looks great.... :D however, i too think it looks too clean... like the covered garden with the tree! also... church looks great

those are the best textures i could use. i needed to use bright brick textures, and those are the only ones. i can hardly skin at all, so i cant make my own. this was going to be destroyed, like dod_avalanche, but i thought id do a version like this first. italy2 will be the same, but with a lot of holes everywhere, and rubble all over the streets, especially in the market [main street by the chuch], for cover. itll also have the dod obj - to capture and hold the 5 flags, in the same places as in dod

why don't you try adding cars.. to make it look more realistic

ill put some more furniture in then, some cabinets and tables etc. i didnt know if they would have those same cars in italy as the ones in moh, but ill just put em in anyway, the main street hasnt got enough cover

uber,

first off, great map, love how clean it is. It is possible however to get under the map. Can't shoot anyone while under the map from what I could tell but on the north end where the axis spawn when you go across the first balcony you come to and there's a window on the other side of the balcony to jump through, if you jump on the ledge on the side of the building instead of jumping through the window and follow the ledge to the left you can jump on the roof and get under the map that way. If you can't find the spot I'm talking about, post a message with an email contact and I'll get with you and show you where I'm talking about. We have it running currently on our Sexy,Young,Sluts custom maps server! Also, just wondering if on the second version you can add more roof top access with some bushes for snipers to hide in! Hope this helps, and again, great map! I wish I had more time to get into mapping, especially when these kind of maps are done!
