What are they? I've heard about them so much and thought it would be good for me to know about them... I've never seen a tutorial about them except for Mansteins Level Design's Outdoor Levels: In Depth. But that doesn't explain it much... so if it could be explained in a post, by all means do so, I just need to know what a patch mesh is, what i can and cant do with it

Patch mesh is similar in concept to LOD terrain, however is far superior to use. It exists on a horizontal or vertical plane (not just horizontal), can deformed on all 3 planes (not just one), does not have fixed vertices and can be any size. It can be bent and stretched into any shape you want.
It does have one rather annoying trait, however. When used for terrain, you tend to fall through it. This accounts for players getting under the maps in most of the stock maps. But, if you take the time and effort to learn how to use it right, it makes a much better terrain than LOD terrain does, and performs better.
