To place a tree in your map:
1. Right-click in the MoHRadiant's XY (Top) view in the area where you want to place the tree
2. Choose static > natural > tree > commontree from the context menu
Notice that there are other tree entities available in the context menu, as well. Experiment to find the trees that make the most sense for your level. Here are some other suggestions:
Make your trees different sizes and heights for additional realism. To change the size of a tree:
1. Select the tree entity
2. Open the Entity Inspector by pressing the "N" key
3. In the Entity Inspector left-click where you see "Scale 1.0" so that "Scale" and "1.0" appear in the Key and Value text boxes, respectively.
4. In Value text box, replace the "1.0" with "0.75" and then press the "Enter" key
This will make the tree 75% of the tree's original size. Obviously, then, to make the tree 60% of its original size, in Step 4 you would enter "0.60" instead of "0.75".
To change the height of tree without changing its size, simply select the tree entity and then in the XZ (Front) View or YZ (Side) View move the tree entity up or down in the Z direction. If you raise the tree up above the level of the ground, just be sure that the player is unable to see where the tree meets the ground. Hide this using a wall, other natural entities like bushes, etc.
Lastly, if you have a number of the same trees in one area, vary the look of the trees by changing their direction. To do this:
1. Select the tree entity
2. Open the Entity Inspector by pressing the "N" key
3. At the bottom of the Entity Inspector click on one of the Angle Buttons, such as 225

Notice in the XY (Top) View that the arrow in the center of the tree entity's bounding box has changed and now points in the direction that you selected.
By changing the entity values above for your trees, you'll achive a more realistic and believable look for each stand of trees that you create in your map. Remember, in the real world trees aren't the same size, height or shape, so why should they be in your map?
Hope this helps.
