You definitely like frames... but me, and I'm sure a few others, frames aren't the best way to go. Your layout is very simple and simple is good. If you still wanted to use frames, I'd use the iFrame.

I know it's a first attempt, but the picture of the skyline is a little grainy :( Unless that's what look you went for?

I'm starting out too :) I prefer Fireworks to Dreamweaver, but that's just me. I find the tutorials really helpful although they get a bit confusing for me in Dreamweaver.

I'm really pleased with my webpage so far. It's really quite good fun.

Here's a website i found with some really nice high quality pictures on, they have some skylines there :) Light FX is usually the most interesting category 8-)

Of course frames are easy to do if you're using Dreamweaver! :P I'd suggest you keep the same layout, put it in a table, then just put an iFrame where the grey stuff is.

Nice link zip, s'more stock photos for my sigs :)

I didnt know you guys were looking for interesting photos.

Well these sites you need to sign up for, tell them your image spend per annum is around ?100,000.

These have the best pics, some or all will have a watermark but you can paint that sh*t out of the pic :)

http://www.photonica.com

Also if you email the guys at the sites you can get them to send you free amazing books of images, a very very cool thing, trust me I know :)

Enjoy...

ps. REALLY try to not use frames :)

also don't use iframe if you can help it, Netscape and Modzilla do not recognise that tag. - you're best bet is to use tables, you can do the same thing with them if used right.

i thought Netscape and Mozilla did recognize them.. or at least newer versions

Hi Jack,

Nice links, thanks :)

What is all this frame/iframe talk? Haven't a clue what they are. I assume Fireworks uses tables, well that's the impression i get. I wouldn't like to start my website over :(

Well frames are a way to split the browser window into different sections, in each section a different page can be displayed. This way of making a page can cause screw ups in different browsers.

I dont use fireworks but I would imagine you can save out a whole page with the links and all images set up, I'm pretty sure it would lay it out in a table. I use photoshop which is bundled with another prog called Image Ready, image ready is kinda like pshops lil brother, its useful for making gif animations, pages as well. You can set up your webpage, including links, rollover effects then save it all out as html, I'm sure it includes some uneccesary crap in the tags but it works, I have not found a browser that couldnt handle it yet.

I reckon fireworks will probably do the same work as image ready.

Yeah, i believe fireworks is a similar program. You can slice up the pages you make, so the page loads in pieces (saves waiting for the whole page to load). You can optimise and then export your file to HTML or transfer it to Dreamweaver, it's pretty clever really. :)

You can make animations in fireworks too, but it's a little too advanced for me right now. Nice to know it's an option for the future though.

Thanks for the info Jack :)
