I have been stuck on making a door work properly.
I made two last night 1 rotates in the middle and the other slides into the wall.
I make my door, texture it then choose func/door and I tried func/rotating door then I apply origin to the door and hinge, ( I can't see an arrow) like
one post suggested.
If I compile it with the origin on the door the game won't start.
Please, I have figured out harder things but I'm kinda goin nutz over this.
Thx

Make the origin in the door...
Like this:
_________________________
|______________________|_|
Select it all -> RMB -> func_rotatingdoor.
Now press 'N' for console.
Select the angles (in the angle section) and fill this in:
key/value:
alwaysaway / 1

For a normal door with hinges use func>rotatingdoor, you don't need to see an arrow since it's not a target. Make the door brush, and make the hinge brush and give the latter the common/origin texture. Now, make sure you select both brushes first, rightclick and choose func>rotatingdoor.
To see if both brushes have turned into one entity, deselect them and again select one of them and press Ctrl+e. All parts of the door enitity should be highlighted. Now press N to set the angle if needed. Look at the door in the 2D topview. If the door is facing west/east let it be. If it's facing north/south set an angle:
key> angle
value> 90
(the key alwaysaway defaults to 1, but there's no harm in setting it anyways).

This tutorial map has 34 doors. The .map file is included, so you can see how the doors are made. Even the manwhole elevator is a func_door!

BTW: Alwaysaway 1 is default for rotating doors and does not have to be set. But, the angle must be set to one of the directions the player will face to open it.

That is so sweeet! I like the garage and attic door, and the mailbox.
