Have you tried Ctrl+F?

If so try using either the S key to bring up surface properties or play about with the buttons at the bottom of radiant (apparently they do somthing other than try to annoy me).

If youve tried those then come back and bug us some more :D

For cylindes use 'P' for patch not 'S', thats for regular brushes.

To texture the cylinders apply the texture then hit NATURAL, it should be down the bottom of the Radiant screen.

for meshes and cyliders I like to use the set key at the bottom of the screen set will tile the image . For example to tile the image once in one direction and twice in the other put 1 in one of the boxes and 2 in the other and press the set key . If you want to tile it the other way put 2 in the first box and 1 in the second box. After you can even rotate it .
