My main problem is to make patch messes

solid. I guess you will have to do it the same way as with a sold brush. Make sure the shder for the texture says nonsolid. I cant remember if I tried this on pathces, but I figure it should work the same way. Worth a try if nothing else.

Whether the patch is solid or not is do to the shader for the texture you used on the patch. You can turn a patch mesh into a non-solid script_object, but it will affect the lighting of the surface because it is an entity.

And you make it a script object the same way you would to a brush?
Yes

Yes, highlight the patch and hit key N. Choose "Script_object" from the list and set the "NOT_SOILD" flag.
