I have some lod, its ok cept it lets some grenades fly through, and some one has found a way to get underneath it.

I was thinking, If I duplicate the lod then give it say a grass clip texture would this fix the problems and would it also double the amount of lod the game has to draw ?

Cheers.

That will most likely NOT fix the problem. LOD is slightly f**ked up when it comes to collision detection. Not as bad as Patch meches but not as good as brushes. My sugestion is that you take the time to make regular clipbrushes underneath all the LOD terrain. That is a sure to work fix. The good thing is that you don't need to make any leaning brushes, just make them like a mighty strange staircase. :-)

why don't ya just use the clip , or draw a small brush or whatever size is need to fill the gap!

Well I didnt imagine duplicating the terrain would work but would have been a much quicker way than drawing brushes, I have a couple of big bumpy pieces of lod, so I have my work cut out for me.

The person that found their way underneath is meant to be mailing me a screenie so if its only in a couple of spots that you can get through I will clip those and forget about the odd nade that disappears, you can get dud grenades :)

Thanks for your ideas.

bad spots

If you know where the bad spots are, there is something you can do to fix it. You can force everyone to see MAX DETAIL at the bad spots. That is done with the Facet Editor (key Shift + F with a terrain section highlighted).

So its people with low detail settings that are able to creep through the lod ?

If so, forcing the detail would be a perfect soloution.

Thanks :)
