I need help on fixing degenerate/mirrored planes...

Post by Axion »

I've already looked at the sticky thread on compiling errors and the only solution that it offers is to use a plugin that I cannot download.

When I try to find the entity/brush by entering its number as listed in the compiler, radiant will not select it, so I have no idea which brushes are causing the problems.

If anyone could give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

ERROR: Entity xxx, Brush xxx: degenerate plane

A degenerate plane is created by using the vertex editing feature in a wrong way. This error can result in very weird glitches, including random faces all over your map and infinite brushes.

SOLUTION: Use a plugin (e.g. Rogue's) to remove the given brush. Be careful with vertex editing in the future.

Umm, did you read what I posted?

I already stated that I've looked at the reference in the sticky thread (which is what you just posted), but the link for the plugin does not work for me.

Are there any other viable solutions? Is there anywhere else where I can download the plugin?

I appreciate you trying to help me, though.

E-mail me and i'll send the plugins. They go in the plugins folder of MOHTools. There are two brush repair plugins in it. One is for duplacate planes and the other is for evil polys. Hopefully one of them will fix your problem. They will not harm your map.

Awesome. Thanks a lot!

By the way, I'm sorry if I sounded rude in my last post; it wasn't intentional.

Try to enter the entity/brush again and although radiant doesn't seem to select it hit the backspace to delete anyway . If you know the bush number you may even try to open the .map file in notepad and find the brush and delete it that way . I have done that and you don't have to worry about renumbering the brushes either . Maybe copy the map to a different directory before you do that just in case .
