defrag multiple drives in xp

today i wanted to defrag all my drives, which i hadn't done for a long time... i had to find out that under Windows XP the feature of selecting 'all drives' (which was existing in Win98) is gone, and I would have to select each drive seperately and wait till this one is done until i could select the next...
after d/ling, in- and deinstalling lots of so-called shareware diskmanagers, i started the other way round:
i wrote a batch-file defragall.bat:

Code: Select all

defrag c: -f
defrag d: -f
defrag e: -f
defrag g: -f
(the -f is for defragmentation even with low diskspace)

now executing this defragall.bat, it does exactly what i wanted: it defrags all drives automatically one after the other :D
this is perfect for ppl having lots of drives and want to have the job done while they're somewhere else (sleeping?)

bad thing (there always is one) is that u ought to scandisk and repair errors before defrag. this is also possible from command line/batch file with chkdsk c: -f, but i'm not sure yet what happens with boot drives, because normally windows then would want to restart for a chkdsk. I'll give it a try, but if anybody knows...
