NEED HELP ASAP

Post by Anarchy_soldier »

I have a map im making. i put trenches below the ground. i need to put the ground back now but it covers my trenchs up. and going piece by piece putting walls on my trenches would take way to long. is there a way to make a ground piece open up to the pieces on the bottom??????

Well you could clone pieces that are already in place and move them around to fit them into the scheme of things. You could also try to use the subtract button while having the trench walls selected (but i stongly advise against that unless you know what you are doing otherwise you will be back here later askin about compiling errors.) Or you could just do it the long way. Sorry there isnt anything else i know of to do the trick.

Welcome to .map

If you are talking about makeing holes in you terain then do this . Select edit facet flags on the LOD terain menu . A dialog box will open . Also select color facet flags on the LOD menu . Now press the control key the shift key an the left mouse button on the terain where you want to remove parts of the terain . Select delete on the facet flag dialog box and then select the part you want to delete again . It should turn yellow . Now that part of the terain will be deleted in the game .

CSG Subtract

Post by tltrude »

Sounds like you are using solid brushes for the ground. Make the bottom brush tall, above the ground. Then go to Selection > CSG > Subtract and it will cut the ground. Bring the bottom brushes back down.

Make a backup copy of your map first because it can cause the editor to crash.

That amused me :)

Often anarchy theres no easy way to do it, you try to cut those corners but they mostly dont produce what you were hoping for and cause problems further into the map.

Welcome to weeks ( even months ) of staring at your monitor :)

Build those walls around your trenches, prob wont take as long as you think if you make one part then paste it along the trench, rotating it at the corners so you can continue to paste away, and try to mitre those corners ( I try but I get lazy sometimes ).
Philip II of Macedon sent a message to Sparta:
"If I win this war, you will be slaves forever."
The Spartan ephors sent back a one word reply: "If".
