spearhead SDK, compiling .map file

OK, Im fairly new to mapping. I am currently studying 3D Studio Max (v5.1) at college and play MOH Spearhead online frequently (MOH wont work for some reason, but prefer Spearhead). I have downloaded Spearhead SDK and have created a basic map with light and player start point with mohradiant. I haved saved as .map at the following location:

C:\Program Files\EA games\MOHAA\mymaps\map1.map

Whilst trying to compile the map using command prompt like this:

C:\>Q3map ?gamedir c:\Program Files\MOHAA\mymaps c:\Program Files\MOHAA\mymaps\map1

...I get the following error:

'Q3map' is not recognised as an external or internal command

Is this an error with my command prompt? Does the game have to be installed on the root of my C drive? Can a .bat file be created so that I dont have to reinstall MOH, Spearhead & Breakthrough?

Any help or links to further information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

ps. are any appropriate plugins available for 3D Studio Max 5.1 yet?

Do you have Mbuilder? I have never made a Spearhead map, and don't know if it works the same, but it makes life a whole lot simpler when compiling. No your instal is fine, but I store my maps in eagames/mohaa/main/maps, since this is where they are store for the actual game.

Milkshape is available with the needed import and export types to make most conversions.

Be carefull using the source files from all three games when you make your maps. Most people only play Mohaa.

And if you figure it out let me know if you can make some simple modern cars for me for my whitehouse map ;)

Also if you like what you can do in relation to modeling for mohaa, thank scorpiomidget, as he has put tons of work into making it all work and deserves recognition on a grand scale!

Mbuilder is much easier than the command prompt . The command prompt should look something like this .

"C:\MOHAATLS\Q3map.exe" -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA C:\MOHAATLS\mymap.map
"C:\MOHAATLS\Q3map.exe" -vis -fast -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA C:\MOHAATLS\mymap.map
"C:\MOHAATLS\MOHlight.exe" -fast -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA C:\MOHAATLS\mymap.map

That was copied from the mbuilder builder.bat file

All working fine now. Ive created my first room with a few burning german bodies in it !! Still trying to suss out how to use scripting on a door but its all just a learning curve. Thanks to Nemesis for the tutorial...turns out that I hadnt installed Mbuilder, I thought it was a part of MOHradiant and not an extra utility.

:D .............
